THE JELLINGE MONUMENTS
The Jellinge Monuments are part of Denmark's national world heritage. Every Dane should at least once in their life take a trip to Jelling and see the historic Jellinge Stones. The Jellinge Monuments are considered some of the most distinguished in all of Europe from the Viking Age. They are Denmark's Baptismal Certificate and their history is the reason why the monuments and the surrounding area have come to be UNESCO World Heritage Site list together with only 6 other places in Denmark.
The Jelling of the Kings
Also visit the experience center The Jelling of the Kings. The center is part of the National Museum of Denmark. At the experience center you can learn more about the Viking kings Gorm and Harald, their runestones, the great shipwreck and the gigantic palisade that was erected more than 1000 years ago. In 2019 you can experience a special exhibition about Danefæ, Treasure or Scrap. The Kings' Jelling is located right next to the Jellinge Monuments.

There is both recent art and historical collections. The exhibition is one of Denmark's most digital cultural history exhibitions, which makes the experience lively and modern.

Jump around among giant balls in one of the large nets of up to 300 m2 high up in the trees. Speed up one of the many zip lines – and have a slingshot battle with mom or dad in the Tarzan slingshots!
More than just treetops
In WOW PARK's underground universe you can climb on adventures and find the little play caves in the many winding passages. In the labyrinths above, the whole family is challenged to find their way through the willow forest and the Giant Labyrinth.
Givskud Zoo / Zootopia
Danhostel Vejle offers accommodation just 20 minutes drive from Givskud Zoo, which is designed as a zoo where you drive in with your car. At selected places inside the park you park your car and continue around on foot. A large and different animal park that in addition to the many animals also has special exhibitions such as large life-like dinosaurs.
You can easily spend a whole day at Givskud Zoo, which also has a large pride of lions, where you drive directly into the enclosure with the lions. A great outing for the whole family.
Denmark's best animal park
Givskud Zoo is very popular and one of the most acclaimed zoos in Denmark. The park has been named Denmark's best zoo for the second year in a row. And with good reason. There is something for the whole family here, good access to the animals, as well as good places to eat, play areas, etc.
Givskud Zoo is also known as Zootopia.
Good tip from us
We especially recommend seeing the wolf pack where you get really close to the big wolves and look them in the eye. These impressive animals can easily send a cold shiver down your spine.
GO ON A CYCLING OR HIKING TRIP IN VEJLE ÅDAL
Danhostel Vejle is located right next to the beautiful Vejle Ådal, also known as Denmark's Nature Park. Here you will find many cycling and hiking trails. The most recommended is the "Bindeballestien" (Bindeballe Trail), which follows the tracks of the disused Vandelbane from Vejle through the Ådalen to Bindeballe by the Hærvejen. A beautiful walk in nature.
Attractions in and around Vejle Ådal
The area is large but most attractions in Vejle Ådal can be reached in about 15 minutes by car from Danhostel Vejle. You can easily have a good day trip by driving to the various places if you don't want to cycle all the way.
The most well-known attractions are the Egtved Girl's Grave, the Ravning Bridge from the Viking Age, Bindeballe Købmandsgård, the old-fashioned general store and merchant's museum, the Randbøldal Museum with, among other things, water experimentarium, Randbøl Hede, Frederikshåb Plantation and Robert Jacobsen's and Jean Clareboudt's impressive sculptures in Tørskind Gravel Gravel.
Good tip from us
Also worth a visit is the old Baroque church in Nørup with the beautiful onion-shaped roof and the area around Engelsholm Castle and lake. The Renaissance castle Engelsholm is beautifully situated on the shores of Engelsholm Lake, surrounded by forest and park.
